Wheel bolt pattern depends a lot on the wheel size and weight distribution. Usually, patterns vary wildly between smaller compact models and larger trucks. But that is not the case with VW lug patterns at all.

Volkswagen uses a similar 5-lug bolt pattern for most of its vehicles. This makes 5 lugs per wheel a standard feature. This means you can swap wheels between different VW models much easier, thanks to similarities in bolt patterns across the model years.

The majority of the models from as early as 1999 to 2021 use a 5x4.4" lug pattern. But some earlier models of the Jetta, GTI, and Golf use a 5x3.94" lug pattern instead.

VW vehicles also show phenomenal consistency in wheel size and stud size. Most Volkswagen models have a wheel size range of 15"-20", except for the 2019-2021 Volkswagen Atlas, which ranges from 18" to 21". Across most popular models, the stud size is also consistently 14x1.5.

Do not get into the sense of false security because everything seems to be so standardized. It's crucial to always check and match wheel specifications when considering replacements or upgrades, but the consistency observed here suggests that many parts are interchangeable across these models.
